Deucalion (デューカリオン Dyūkarion?) is a gigantic Martian Kataphrakt that appears in the ALDNOAH.ZERO television series. It is piloted by Viscountess Orlane, an Orbital Knight.
Technology & Combat Characteristics
The Deucalion is equipped with an Aldnoah Drive that allows for it to manipulate gravity. It is able to generate a defensive field that is capable of bending gravity around the unit.
History
The Deucalion, piloted by Viscountess Orlane, fought against Lieutenant Koichiro Marito's Tank Platoon by utilizing its gravity manipulating capabilities. The conflict on the Moon caused the Hyper Gate to go out of control, causing space-time distortion waves, which ultimately shattered the Moon and inhibits her from retreating from an ensuing meteor bombardment caused by Heavens Fall. The meteor that fell on Tanegashima practically destroys the Deucalion. It was later seized by the United Forces of Earth and its Aldnoah Drive was stripped and used for the Deucalion. Special Equipment and Features
- Gravity Manipulator
- The manipulators allow the Deucalion to manipulate gravity around itself. The same system allows it to subvert its own gravitational pull in order to fly.

- The Deucalion attacks by bending gravity around all enemies within range, causing them to float into the air, and subsequently crash into the ground violently.

- The "Deucalion" is named after Deucalion, the son of Prometheus from Greek Mythology.
- The Deucalion's tripod design, overwhelming power, and it's affiliation with a faction originating from Mars could all be an allusion to the Fighting Machine of The War of the Worlds story.
